Start With the Brim Shape

Send a reference photo, sketch, or sample. We use it to define the front, side, and back brim widths, crown proportion, side profile, structure, and edge.

What Can You Customize?

A wide brim is defined by more than width. These choices determine how it looks, moves, and holds its shape.

Custom wide-brim hat width measurements

Brim Width

Set the front, side, and back measurements instead of relying on one overall diameter.

Wide-brim straw hat side profile options

Side Profile

Choose a flat, downward, upward, softly waved, or more controlled line.

Wide-brim straw hat firmness selection

Firmness

Choose a soft, flexible, semi-structured, or firm brim.

Wide-brim straw hat crown proportions

Crown Proportion

Balance crown height, shape, head opening, and band position with the brim.

Wide-brim straw hat edge finish options

Edge Finish

Choose a raw, stitched, bound, or another approved edge treatment.

Wide-brim straw hat branding and color options

Branding and Color

Add a hat band, logo, under-brim artwork, color, and contrast details.

Set the Brim Measurements

Front, side, and back widths can match or differ. Record each measurement from the crown connection to the edge so the sample follows the intended proportion.

  • Brim map:
Mark the front, side, and back widths.
  • Crown:
Add the crown height, top shape, head opening, and band position.
  • Provide:
Send front, side, back, top, underside, and worn views with key measurements.
  • Sample check:
Review the complete proportion, balance, and fit from all main angles.

Choose How the Brim Should Move

Two brims with the same width can look completely different. The side profile and firmness decide whether the brim flows, holds a curve, or stays more fixed.

  • Soft:
Allows more movement and visible variation.
  • Semi-structured:
Balances movement with a more controlled outline.
  • Firm:
Holds a clearer line and usually needs more packing support.
  • Edge:
Choose a finish that works with the target profile and movement.

Match the Material to the Brim

A material can look suitable in a swatch but behave differently at full brim size. Compare it in the finished shape for weight, texture, flexibility, and edge control.

  • Material:
Compare raffia, paper straw, Toyo straw, wheat straw, palm, seagrass, or another available option.
  • Texture:
Choose a finer surface or a more visibly natural weave.
  • Structure:
Make sure the material supports the intended curve and movement.
  • Color:
Choose a natural tone or provide a dyed color direction.

Make the Brim Part of the Design

The larger surface can carry color, artwork, or edge detail when the material and curve support it.

Under-Brim Artwork

Place artwork where it appears as the brim moves. Confirm the print area, direction, scale, and edge clearance on the sample.

Wide-Brim Hat FAQs

Answers to common questions before starting a custom wide-brim hat sample.

Yes. Mark each width from the crown connection to the edge and approve the complete shape in the physical sample.
Choose by the profile and movement you want. A softer brim moves more; a firmer brim holds a clearer line and may need more packing support. Approve the result in the physical sample.
No. A wider brim changes physical coverage, but any UPF, UV-blocking, or certified protection claim requires evidence for the finished product.
Sometimes. It depends on crown volume, brim width and profile, firmness, trims, and the required condition after unpacking. Approve the nesting quantity and supports in a packing trial.
The starting MOQ is 50 pieces per design. Samples usually take 5–7 days after the details are confirmed, and bulk production usually takes 15–25 days after approval. Final timing depends on the design, quantity, components, and packaging.
